Are you ready for game day?
Alumni Hall has arrived in Cameron Village and is ready to welcome back the Pack! State fans may already be familiar with Alumni Hall from its existing Crabtree location. But the newest store in Cameron Village is going to be larger with more space for more of the high quality Wolfpack merchandise you’ve come to love. No shades of blue here, no purple or black & gold – this shop is red and white for life. The location on Daniels Street is almost close enough to campus to hear the Bell Tower chime its hourly melody. For NC State alumni, coming to Alumni Hall will feel a lot like coming home.
For the fellas, says new Alumni Hall store manager Matt Tinch, NC State gameday attire is going to look a lot like a red polo shirt or a red t-shirt. But the ladies, he says, want options – lots and lots of options – to look their pregame best. They want to wear logo branded red and white dresses, pulled together with the perfect bag and just the right necklace to show their Wolfpack pride. And Alumni Hall, slated to open August 18, has what every Pack fan needs to tailgate in style.
Store openings need a lot of room; space to hold the merchandise that arrives by the truckload, space for contractors to work while outfitting the building. As the Alumni Hall’s store renovations have progressed, hundreds of boxes spent the summer piled up in temporary storage, ready to be loaded onto racks. But the preparations for opening day have moved quickly, with veteran staff working hard to sort and unpack boxes so all that great gear is on display for the big opening day celebration. NC State’s first football game against the University of South Carolina Gamecocks will be played in Charlotte on September 2nd. But the Wolfpack brings it home on September 9th, and Matt expects the days leading up to the home opener to be busy in the new store. And with the first home game scheduled in the evening, there is plenty of time to swing by Cameron Village on your way to Carter-Finley!
The store has a center register with one side for women’s clothing and one for men’s. One corner sports children’s clothing and accessories for the littlest Pack fans. Framed art and Bell Tower prints adorn the walls. One section is loaded with hats, another is dedicated to every kind of glassware. With Tervis tumblers, copper mugs and pint glasses, whatever your beverage choice, Alumni Hall has what you need to sip in style.
While Alumni Hall is most known for high quality branded apparel, Matt makes it clear that high quality doesn’t mean high cost. There’s something for fans at all price points. With one table of t-shirts at 2 for $28, even new freshmen can afford to look the part of a loyal member of the Pack. And for parents? Maybe you find yourself new to the Wolfpack, even with a lifetime loyalty to, ahem, another fine institution. At Alumni Hall, you’re part of the Wolfpack when your student is, even if you secretly have some other colors hidden in your closet. With brands like Adidas and Cutter & Buck, you can show off your newfound Pack Parent pride.
There are plenty of places to buy a red shirt. But Matt says that the experience in the new Alumni Hall store makes all the difference. Many of the staff are NC State students, young people with a love for the University that connects them with alumni across the generations. Whether you want to pop in to check the score, talk about the upcoming big game, or find the perfect gift for the Wolfpack fan in your life, you’ll find a friendly, welcoming staff and a fun atmosphere that brings people together. Welcome to the Pack!
