Happens every year here in the sunny south – the leaves begin to fall, the calendar turns turns to October, but the temps still scream summer. What’s a girl gotta do to get the feeling of fall? Get that pumpkin spice latte on ice and head to Cameron Village to update your wardrobe with the latest fall trends. It will feel like autumn in no time!
Mama always said to look like a lady! Ruffles, soft florals, and pretty embellishments celebrate all things girly this fall. Cassandra Mabe, director of marketing & eCommerce at Bevello points to those feminine details to bring your style a vintage vibe. Pair a pleated skirt with floral bowtie blouse to show off this lovely – and ladylike – look.
From asymmetrical hems to tailored jackets, this season’s minimalist look brings out a classic style. Cassandra suggests a modern poncho, bias cut dresses, or a tailored tunic vest in classic navy or a pop of orange for a trendy twist on sophisticated style.
Textiles with Texture
For style you can truly feel, try fabrics with tons of texture. Heather Fino, manager of Fifi’s of Cameron Village says, “This Fall/Winter season we are loving all the fun textures available. You can wear them as statement pieces or incorporate them into your everyday look with layering.” From velvet and suede to brocades and furs, lush fabrics bring a taste of fall.
The much loved trim trend is here to stay! Kara Leggett, manager of Palm Avenue shared the Lilly fall style guide that’s guiding the way this season. Tassels, pom-poms and fringe continue to steal the spotlight, giving a fun, flirty edge to all kinds of garments.
Spotlight on Smocking
Smocking isn’t just for the toddler set! Kara points out that pintucks and smocking are a great (and fully grown up!) way to add detail and extra interest. And they are functional, too! Smocked necklines keep those off-the-shoulder styles right where they belong.
Sneakers on Sneakers
Being comfortable is on trend for any season, and fab footwear is just the ticket. Alejandra Villacis, Uniquities’ Social Media Marketing Manager says, “Sneakers are not only your go-to for a day at the mall or for a quick trip to the grocery store, but if paired with a chunky sweater and a denim midi skirt, you’ll get yourself an effortlessly chic outfit for brunch or even happy hour.”
Denim is always in, but this season is all about statement denim, says Alejandra. Cropped hems, embroidery, deconstructed styles are all proving popular at Uniquities this fall. “We are particularly obsessed with Ruffled Denim. This style is not only a show-stopper, but it’s cropped length will not let your killer shoes go unnoticed.”
Blushing Over Velvet
And Alejandra is all about the velvet! “Velvet is everywhere this season: we see it in jackets, dresses, bodysuits, jeans, sneakers, skirts. Millennial pink – aka blush – is the color of the season and our personal favorite, so we are big fans of mixing & matching these trends.”
